Abstract (EN)
This study addresses the importance of preserving life, one of the five fundamental values protected by Islam, and focuses on threats arising from infectious diseases that could claim many lives if necessary precautions are not taken. In this context, the research analyzes the legitimacy of preventive measures such as quarantine, social distancing, and vaccination against infectious diseases like COVID-19 through the examination of hadiths. It discusses apparent contradictions in certain hadiths on the topic and seeks to establish a balance between belief in divine destiny and the necessity of taking preventive measures. By analyzing seemingly conflicting hadiths, the study explains how reliance on God and taking measures can coexist harmoniously. The research consists of two main sections: The first section discusses some epidemic diseases that occurred in Islamic history and related prophetic hadiths, providing examples of how Muslims acted in such situations. It also introduces key concepts fundamental to the study. The second section presents measures such as quarantine and social distancing recommended by the World Health Organization and governments, evaluating these measures from the perspective of Sunnah. It explores their impact on practices such as congregational prayer, Hajj, and Umrah, and examines how to adapt to these changes. Hadiths that could be interpreted as opposing preventive measures are analyzed to demonstrate their compatibility with the principle of reliance on God. This section concludes by highlighting the virtues of those who endure and remain patient in the face of infectious diseases and emphasizes the role of patience as a psychological measure to mitigate the effects of illnesses. The study underscores the importance of clarifying the authenticity of hadiths related to infectious diseases and their attribution to the Prophet. It aims to counter criticisms based on misinterpretations of Islamic texts and emphasizes the significance of the Islamic world's active participation in addressing this global health crisis.
