Sila-i rahim (Relative Right) in hadith

People are social beings by nature. For this reason, they are in dialog with people around them, and they need each other. God Almighty has established some ties between people. The happiness of a person for life time is directly proportional to the strong ties. Here, Islam has revealed this important tie as one of the most important grounds of religion under name of sıla-i rahim and has imposed some rules. The closest social sphere of people after their family is relatives in terms of social solidarity and cooperation. The Qur'an and Hadith have punctiliously emphasized relative relations. A particular characteristic of the factious in the Qur?an is to break in ties of relatives. The Prophet (pbuh) has ordered that "the higher virtue is to visit your relative who does not visit you anymore" and pointed out its importance. The content of sıla-i rahim is to maintain relations of those having posterity union, to show love and compassion to each other, to provide monetary and spiritual support, and to be in effort of elimination of nuisance. Generally, sıla-i rahim means hugging all people and beings with compassion. The relative relations are important in terms of social solidarity, and this is also important in terms of peace and trust of families. They have different place in sharing good relations, happiness and joy, and dealing with distress and grief, the society supports individual and family. Therefore, it strengthens social structure. The bad and broken relations raise feeling of continuous disturbance, insecurity and loneliness. Today, it is known that city structuring and changing business life adversely affect the relation of relatives. In addition, these ties can be broken with several reasons like ignorance, arrogance, stinginess, envy, injustices in division of inheritance ?. The kat-ı rahim which means breakdown of relative ties and this is biggest sin. There are good manifestations of sıla-i rahim in our society. The virtues like wishing merry holiday, love, respect, serving and giving gift gain importance and cause creation of established traditions. Applying sıla-I rahim, one of the first orders of religion, is a task required to observe. The self sacrifice at this moment is not like offering anything to other person.
