Abstract (EN)
Death is the inevitable and most painful truth of life. A person confronted with this reality experiences anxiety about their own death and profound pain when they lose loved ones. These deep emotions that a person feels cause some changes in his thoughts, behavior and social relationships that last for a certain period of time. Getting through this period, called the mourning process, in a healthy way is extremely important for the person to accept the new situation. They also need social support during this process. For this reason, mourning practices shaped by religious beliefs are seen in every society. In Islam, the practices regarding how individuals and society should behave during the mourning process were determined by the Prophet Muhammad. He set an example for people with his reactions to the losses he experienced in his own life and guided them by introducing a new model of behavior in line with Islam. There are many narrations about this in hadith sources. Based on this point, this study examines the Prophet's approach to mourning practices that existed during the Pre-Islamic Period, the exemplary role he set with his reactions to his own losses, and narrations regarding the social roles shaped by the Sunnah during the mourning process. On this occasion, the aim is to reveal the Sunnah of the Prophet during the mourning period. Literature review method was used in the study. As a result of the study, it was determined that the Prophet Muhammad determined extremely strategic rules regarding mourning and presented a unique behavioral model.
