Roman and Byzantium lamps of the rescue excavation of the city wall of the hadrianoupolis

Emperor Hadrian created one military encampment (castrum), during East visitation in Hadrianoupolis (Edirne) city, which gave his own name in 123 ? 124 A.D. and city wall comes from military encampment building nowadays, were excavated under named by Macedonia Tower Rescue Excavation (The City Wall of The Hadrianoupolis Rescue Excavation) in 2002 ? 2003 under the responsibility of The Directorate of The Edirne Museum. Lamps of Late Roman and Early Byzantium, pieces of lamps and mould which gets in this excavation create head topic of this work. As known, since old age, necessities of imitation illumination were provided with discovering fire and lamps.First detail in this work, history of Hadrianoupolis antique city and Macedonia Tower were explained by Macedonia Tower Rescue Excavation in 2002 ? 2003. For all that mentioned about lamps, its evolution, construction techniques, its sections and usage areas. Then, lamps of Late Roman and Early Byzantium Periods which appears from Macedonia Tower and formed head topic of this work were analysed and allocated as 22 types according decorating. Every type was explained in own build and parted into a section. Comparison was made for every lamp and pieces of lamps with founding similarity in literature.Lamps and pieces of lamps parted 22 types which with mould of lamps were catalogued; photograph documenting were created and classified and dated.Key Words: Lamp, Pieces of Lamps, Mould of Lamps, Hadrianoupolis, Makedonia Tower Rescue Excavation.
