Abstract (EN)

Life and death are two concepts that gain meaning through the values attributed to each other. Euthanasia has been discussed between these two concepts. Although euthanasia has found support from time to time in the historical process, it has been a concept that is generally opposed. With the interest of artists and the development of news networks, euthanasia has ceased to be a concept discussed only by narrow circles and has become a subject of interest and discussion by wider circles. The place of euthanasia in the context of Human Rights is also at the center of these discussions. This study aims to outline the concept of euthanasia, to reveal the theoretical discussions on euthanasia and to give examples from different countries' euthanasia practices. The thesis consists of two parts. In the first part, the conceptual framework of euthanasia will be drawn and it will be examined whether euthanasia will be a right in the axis of the discussions on the life's inviolability and quality. In the second part, the problem of healthy will in euthanasia practices, the effect of euthanasia on medical science and health resources, the comparison of passive euthanasia with active euthanasia will be examined. Afterwards, examples of euthanasia practices in comparative law will be given and it will be tried to show how the theoretical discussions on euthanasia respond in positive law.
