Investigation of medicinal and aromatic plants used in hallet and its close environment

Abstract (EN)
In this study, medicinal and aromatic plants grown in and around the Halfeti district of Şanlıurfa, and endemic plants belonging to that region, valuable in terms of human health and economy, known or unknown, used by the public were determined. In our study, a face-to-face survey was conducted with the local people on a voluntary basis in 40 settlements in the province of Şanlıurfa. A total of 101 people, 34% female and 67% male, participated in the survey. The respondents were asked questions about the medicinal aromatic plant species found in their region and for what purpose they are used. A total of 75 species belonging to 39 families were identified in the studies. The purpose of the use of these plants by the local people, the parts of the plant, the way of use (direct, single or mixture) and the frequency were investigated. Plants used for both food and medicinal purposes: 40 types (A. sativum, P. vera, R. coriaria, etc.) Plants used for medicinal and fodder purposes: 11 species (S. cerinthifolia, E. orientalis, etc.) Used only for medicinal purposes Plants: 30 species (A. arabica, A. hyalina, etc.) Plants used as ornamental or amulet: 10 species (O. Basilicum, R. Officinalis, P. harmala etc.), plants not directly used in human health: 2 species ( S. Halepense etc.), , the most frequently used plant: T. polium, and its use was determined in 26 questionnaires, C. insulare in 11 questionnaires, and T. terrestris in 10 questionnaires. Commercially cultivated plants are P. vera, A. sativum, R. Coriaria, V. vinifera, O. Europaea etc. . The only species that does not grow in the region and is used for medicinal purposes: C. Lemon. According to the rate of presence of families, the most common family is Lamiaceae, which is represented by 12 species at a rate of 16%.. According to the types of diseases, in internal diseases: A. Sativum etc. plants, in ENT and Respiratory diseases: S. Libanotica etc.plants have been determined as used plants. It has been determined that some plants have uses specific to the Halfeti region (P. Vera, S. Colorata, A. Striata etc.).
