The political and religious authority in the Ottoman on the axis of the caliphate institution

The caliphate was adopted as a government style throughout the history of Islam, it was used by Islamic states as both a religious and a political authority. This heritage is remained from the periods of The Islamic Prophet and Hulefa-i Rashid. Because, they were both religious leaders and political leaders in the peacetime, and they assumed the role of commander-in-chief during wartime. The receipt of the caliphate from the Mamluks in the Ottoman State is an administrative and political turning point. After the capture of the Caliphate, the concepts of management understanding and legitimacy of political power in the Ottoman Empire have undergone a major change. Thus, the institution of the caliphate influenced religious and political authority in the Ottoman State. The legal system is based on Islamic law to a great extent, and the legitimacy of political power has been further strengthened in the Ottoman Empire together with the caliphate.
