Public medicine the approaches towards in and the pertaining implementations in Çankırı

The subject of our study is " Public Medicine, the Approaches towards it and the pertaining Implementations in Çankırı". Our study consists of three chapters. In the first chapter, brief information concerning the historical and geographical features of Çankırı as well as cultural values in Çankırı has been given. The second chapter defines public medicine and the basic concepts concerning public medicine and in succession, the history of public medicine has been handled in brief. At the final part of this chapter, the search for immortality and the development of public medicine within the Turkish society have been studied under the title "Public Medicine and the Search for Immortality in the Turkish Society". The third chapter is about the traditional methods of treatment applied on diseased people in Çankırı. These methods of treatment are handled under six headings which are; soliciting restoration of health from certain families the members of which are believed to have the spiritual power to cure people, places visited for cure or recovery ( such as tombs), thermal springs and health restorative springs, herbal based treatment methods and cures, animal based treatment methods and cures and others. The implementations we came across when observing the methods of treatment by people who are believed to restore health and at the places visited for health restoration, were the somehow modified versions of older implementations stemming from old Turkish faiths. The thermal springs, health restorative springs, herbal and animal based treatment methods are the ones closest to today's modern medicine.
