An investigation on the factors affecting the performances of female trainers in folk dances (Ankara example)

Since the past, Turkish folk dances have a great place and importance in the survival and spread of our culture in Turkey and in the world. In this study, it is aimed to determine the current place of female trainers in Turkish folk dances and to reveal the factors affecting their performance and suggestions for these factors are presented. This research is a descriptive field research designed with a qualitative method. Ankara province was chosen as the universe in this study. Public institutions, folk dance associations and private dance schools operating in Ankara were determined, and female folk dance instructors who teach in these institutions were selected as the working group. The data were collected by conducting a literature review and applying the 26-question structured interview form online, which was prepared after taking expert opinion. In the research, the data were analyzed with the document analysis method and the expressions of the participants were converted into a frequency percentage table. In addition, common codes of open-ended expressions were determined and tabulated. As a result, it is thought that more female trainers should be included in folk dances by taking the necessary steps, preparing, implementing and following the programs so that women trainers can find more places in folk dances.
