Traditional folk dances are an art branch that embodies the sociological infrastructure of countries, regions or regions, and also has a very important place in terms of cultural richness.Located in South Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey's Diyarbakir province has hosted many civilizations and history is a cosmopolitan city which is quite deep. From a historical point of view, it is a city that has a very old historical depth and has a long history of witnessing different periods. In this study, I searched for answers to the concepts related to the meaning of the local traditions of Diyarbakır province from past to present, determination of their structural features and how they have undergone a change. Within the scope of this research, various documents related to the subject were used by scanning various resources. In addition to the literature review on the subject, it was tried to examine this issue by making one-to-one interviews by the masters who have a certain age range and knowledge who have been living in the region for many years. Considering the working techniques mentioned above: First, general information about Diyarbakır, and then the music which is an inseparable part of the Diyarbakır halays and their halays are discussed. Subsequently, the concepts such as what the local halays are, what they mean, the stories of the games, the forms of execution, the structural features, the order of execution and the styles of clothing, as well as the relations of the public games with daily life were tried to be examined. As a result of the research; it is seen that folk dances are actually a life style and contain various cultural riches.It is seen as a very high probability that it is formed with quotes from life.Therefore, it is one of the important details that people are very much related to their lifestyle in their regions.Naturally, it is inevitable that some of the people who have an important place in life from the past to the present have also changed, and the folk dances have also changed.
