Development of public health nursing lesson attitude scale

The aim of the research is to develop a valid and reliable scale that measures the theoretical and practical attitudes of nursing students to the Public Health Nursing (PHN) lesson. In terms of this scale development study, in the methodological design, student nurses were also defined in terms of the theoretical and practical attitudes of the PHN lesson. The universe of your research; In the 2016-2017 academic year, a total of 451 students were enrolled in Gaziantep University Health Sciences Faculty, Department of Nursing (216) and 4th Grades (235) and HSH course. For various reasons, 304 form has been evaluated. PHN Lesson Attitude Scale and Introductory Characteristics form and data were collected. Data were analyzed with SPSS and AMOS programs. The Scope Validity Indexes (CSI-CVI) of the items in question ranged from .87 to 1.00, and it was found that the scores for all scales were as .93. Confirmatory factor analysis for the validity of the scale was found to be adequate at the desired level (CMIN / DF: 1.698, RMSEA 0.048, CFI: 0.927, NNFI: 0.900, GFI: 0.853, AGFI: 0.829, PCLOSE: 0.723). The internal consistency analysis for the reliability of the scale was cronbach alpha coefficient; 0.883 in the theoretical sub-dimension, 0.891 in the application sub-dimension, and 0.941 in the overall total. Correlations of item total scores of all items (34 items) were significantly higher (p <0.05). According to research findings; The Public Health Nursing Lesson Attitude Scale is a measuring instrument with high level of validity and reliability indicators that measure the positive and negative attitudes of the student nurses to the theoretical and practical aspects of the course. Developed Public Health Nursing Lesson Attitude Scale (PHNLAS) consists of 34 items. The scale includes two sub-dimensions, the theoretical and the attitude towards implementation. Assessment of the scale is based on sub-dimensions. Point average for sub-dimensions; by dividing the total of the substances by the number of substances (17). Each subscale scored between 0 and 4, the score decreased to 0 and the score increased to 4, suggesting a positive attitude.
