Using Fourier Transform-Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) in identification of Halophilic archaea and bacteria

Abstract (EN)

In this study, identification of halophilic procaryotes by using FT-IR(Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) was aimed. Twelve different halophilic microorganisms were analyzed with FT-IR by using different media. Eight species from this microorganisms belong to arkea domain and four of them belong to bacteria domain. Also 6 Bacteria and 9 Arkea species FT-IR profiles were taken which were isolated from İzmir Çamaltı Saltern. The spectra obtained after FT-IR analyses was compared using SPSS statistics programme; Hierarchical Cluster Analysis, and two cluster was obtained contains two different groups of organisms Arkea and Bacteria. It was observes that Bacteria domain members Chromahalobacter salexigens, Halomonas elongata, Pseudomonas halophila, Salinibacter ruber congregated in one cluster and the Arkea members Haloferax mediterranei, Halococcus dombrowskii, Haloarcula hispanica, Haloarcula marismortui, Haloarcula argentinensis, Halorubrum xinjiangense, Haloarcula mukohatei, Haloferax alexandrines congregated in another cluster.
