Abstract (EN)

In this study conducted between 2017-2018 in order to determine the walnut genotypes which are superior among the naturally grown walnut population in Hani district of Diyarbakır province, fruit samples were taken from 120 genotypes determined by pre-selection from approximately 4000 walnut populations and 19 genotypes which were superior in terms of fruit quality were selected as promising according to walnut selection criteria. According to the two-year averages in selected genotypes, fruit width 27.38-43.03 mm, fruit length 31.20-50.12 mm, fruit height 29.15-35.88 mm, fruit weight 10.03-15.46 g, kernel weight 5.00-6.77 g, kernel rate 41.18-53.65%, shell thickness 1.47-2.03 mm, fruit retention rate in the side branches 0-100% were found. In selected genotypes shell color as 'light' for 13 genotypes, as 'tawny' for 6 genotypes; inner shell color as 'light' for 6 genotypes, as 'yellow' for 9 genotypes and as 'tawny' for 4 genotypes were evaluated. Flowering character of selected genotypes were determined protoandrous in 14 genotypes, protogenous in 1 genotypes and homogamous in 4 genotypes.
