Abstract (EN)
Especially after the Industrial Revolution, life in the world accelerated. Local food, craft and home-made products have been replaced by industrial products based on mass production of machinery, and cities have undergone a rapid growth process. Today, unplanned growth and rapid population growth have led to serious problems in the cities and adversely affected urban life. In these unplanned urbanization activities, practices that could damage the natural environment and cultural heritage of the cities were emerges. These factors, creating the problem of the loss of local identity in cities today. The local identity, cultural, natural and historical heritage in the cities must be protected in order to prevent the problems of that arise in this way. In this context, the promises of the Cittaslow movement, whose aim is to "protect nature, local and all existing cultural values" and the benefits it will bring if implemented, have recently been notice. The term Cittaslow is a combination of the two words Citta (City) in the Italian and slow (calm) in the English . Cittaslow is a reaction to the rapid lifestyle imposed by globalization. Cittaslow has been practiced in many settlements today. In this study, investigated how the Cittaslow movement could be applied to Harput and the gains that the Harput region could achieve with the Cittaslow criteria. within the scope of the research, expert opinions obtained by the survey method and current status analysis were examined and suggestions were developed for Harput within the scope of Cittaslow criteria.
