The Middle Bronze Age pottery from Harran Höyük

Located in Balih Basin, Harran is 44 km from Şanlıurfa province. The Ancient City, surrounded by a 4 km wall, has been the capital of many civilizations. Located in the city center, the mound has a very wide and flat structure. It shows uninterrupted statistics from the Late Chalcolithic to the Middle Ages. The material that constitutes the subject of this study is the evaluation of the Middle Bronze Age pottery found in Harran Höyük. The Middle Bronze Age pottery recovered at Harran Höyük presents an uninterrupted Middle Bronze Age stratification in MBA I and MBA II. With the comparisons made with the Habur and Balih basins and the surrounding cultural regions, the cultural characteristics of the period and the interregional relations were tried to be determined. As a result of the comparisons, it has been determined that the interaction with the Middle Euphrates Region and nearby centers is intense. In addition, the standard ware groups common in the Middle Euphrates Region and the surrounding regions, which are high in number among the ceramics examined, are proof of this situation. The pottery forms, which are seen intensely among the ceramic forms, provide information about the socioeconomic structure of the settlement.The determination of continuity with the Early Bronze Age and Late Bronze Age ceramic traditions among the examined ceramics indicates cultural continuity throughout the Middle Bronze Age. The stratifications that will emerge in a wider area with future excavations will reveal this continuity more clearly. Keywords: Middle Bronze Age, Ceramics, Middle Euphrates Region
