Effects of benzo-thiadiazole-carbothioic acid antioxidant activity of postharvest sweet cherry fruit

Abstract (EN)
In this study, firstly, it was aimed to determine whether the antioxidant capacity of cherry fruits could be increased by post-harvest benzo-thiadiazolecarbothioic (BTH) application. For this purpose, the fruits which were dipped in 100 and 200 ppm BTH solution before storage were kept in cold storage for 21 days. As a result of the measurements performed at one week intervals, it was determined that both 100 and 200 ppm BTH applications decreased total phenolic and anthocyanin contents on the 7th day of storage, but no significant difference was found between BTH applications and control at other sampling dates. Similar effects were observed in the antioxidant capacity of fruits measured in TEAC.Although there were some important differences in acid content and SSC values according to sampling dates, BTH applications did not cause a stable and significant change in acid content and SSC values.The remarkable beneficial effect of BTH applications on the storage performance of 0900 Ziraat fruits was observed only in weight loss
