Abstract (EN)

This study examines the effect of patient aggression suffered by personnel working in the healthcare sector on the intention of employees to leave work and analyzes the regulatory role of management concepts in this effect. Health workers are often exposed to challenging conditions, especially intense work pace, emotional fatigue, and physical or verbal attacks by patients or patient relatives. These adverse conditions increase the intention of employees to quit their jobs and negatively affect the continuity and quality of health services. In the research, the effects of patient aggression on employee psychology have been comprehensively evaluated, organizational support, leadership styles, how empathic and fair management concepts can regulate these effects have been discussed. The findings show that strong and employee-oriented management approaches mitigate the negative consequences of aggression experiences; on the other hand, authoritarian and closed-to-communication management increases the intention to quit work. As a result, managerial forms of intervention have a critical role in reducing problems such as burnout, insecurity and loss of motivation caused by patient aggression.
