Objectives: Using the questionnaire investigations to determine the anxiety levels, to verify the quality of anesthesia and to examine the ideas of patients about anesthesia in anesthesiology researches is not new. In this study, a questionnaire was organized in order to put forward patients information and concerns about anesthesia. This study is aimed to strengthen the patient- physician relationship. For this purpose to give patients information about anesthesia method and to remove the patient's fears and concerns about anesthesia is aimed.Materials and Methods: The study was included 150 patients between 18- 65 years old, ASA 1, 2; who applied to Anestesiology Policlinic of Dicle University Medical Faculty for undergoing elective surgery between May 2010 ? July 2010. Before inspection, the anesthesiologist introduced him/herself and the patients who applied anesthesia policlinic during the preoperative period were asked to complete the questionnaire forms. The Questionnaire consists of two parts. At the first stage, age, sex, educational level, profession, socioeconomic level, demographic information, other than drug allergies, habits, and previous anesthetic experiences are questioned containing personal information, while the second section was about anesthesia questions, was administered.Results: Anesthesia in 2010 to work in the outpatient clinic for various reasons, 67 women (45%), 83 men (55%) of 150 patients. The age distribution of the surveyed patients, 67 aged 18-30 (45%), between the ages of 31-60 66 (44%), 60 years later 17 (11%) of patients respectively. The results of our study showed that our patients did not recognize their anesthesiologists. The information obtained as shown, the majority of patients have incomplete information about the science of anesthesia was found.Conclusion: Our study showed that anesthesiologists and anesthesia practice have demonstrated sufficiently understood by our patients and so they are worried abouth the practice.Key words: Anesthesia, questionnaire, preoperative information level
