Abstract (EN)

It is possible to implement the project of recycling and separate collection of waste at source in order to reduce both the production rates of hospital waste and the economic costs. In this study, in Ankara province and surrounding states, private, university and hospital research and education components of the waste, quantity and amount of waste that is recycled within recycling and economic values are calculated. As a result of work of the hospitals in Ankara 33'üne % were reached. 10 % of recyclable waste in the distribution of hospital waste, 33 % of medical waste, household waste was found to be 57 %. Recyclable waste collection rate is 88 %. The total hospital waste is 4.31 kg/bed/day as medical waste, 2.46 kg/bed/day municipal waste and 0.43 kg/bed/day recyclable waste constitutes. The annual total economic value of the recyclable waste is 92,980 Turkish liras. It will help to the environmental awareness of the implementation of recycling projects in hospitals; by developing country contribution to the economy as well as specifically limited to ensure the protection of natural resources.
