Occupational health and safety problems of hospital employees: Exposure to Hepatitis B infection

Health workers also encounter physical, ergonomic, chemical, biological and psychosocial problems in their working life. There are viruses that occur after skin contact (HIV), injections (Hepatitis B) (needle), viruses that occur after contact, and infected injuries that occur by contact during surgical intervention. This study investigates the exposure to Hepatitis B (HBV) infection as a pilot study to identify the problems of hospital workers. For this purpose, a questionnaire was applied to 1000 volunteer health workers at the Al-Diwaniya Hospital in Iraq's Al-Diwaniyah Governorate. When the results obtained were analyzed statistically, it was concluded that hospital workers had problems with exposure to Hepatitis B (HBV) infection. Specifically, the causes of hepatitis B infection were associated with the use of non-sterile instruments, the use of contaminated acupuncture and dental instruments, and hospitalization in certain areas. In addition, OHS studies and information should be increased, including sub-areas such as work, emergency and fire, and hospital ergonomics, occupational hygiene and environmental health.
