The effects of hospital ethical climate on nurses perception of physical restraint

Abstract (EN)
This research done by using correlational survey model to determine hospital's ethical climate on nurses' perception of physical restraint. The survey has been done on the nurses whom use physical restraint method and these nurses work at Düzce Atatürk Public Hospital and Düzce Universty Medical Application and Research Center. 200 nurses has been surveyed on this research. The data were collected by using Hospital Ethical Climate Survey (HECS), Attitudes, Levels of Knowledge and Practice of Staff Regarding the Physical Restraint Questionnaire. The evaluation of datas utilized by using number, percentage, mean and standard deviation, Pearson's Correlation Analysis and multiple regression analysis. According to the research findings, nurses' HECS point (81.19±17.85) is above average. It was found that the level of knowledge about the use of phsical restraints of Nurses' was (7.14±2.66) above average. It was found that the attitudes of the Nurses' regarding the use of physical restraints were (27.14±6.89) is medium level. It was determined that the physical restraint practices of the Nurses' were made in adequate (30.77±7.77) with the restriction. The relation between nurses' sub dimension of HECS hospital, doctors, administrators and nurses's knowledge of pyhsical restraint has been found out meaningful (R= .523, R2= .273). The relation between nurses' sub dimension of HECS hospital, doctors and nurses's behavior of pyhsical restraint has been found out meaningful (R= .486, R2= .237). The relation between nurses' sub dimension of HECS hospital and nurses' application of pyhsical restraint has been found out meaningful (R= .577, R2= .333). According to the results obtained from the study, it was determined that the ethical climate of nurses predicted the perception of the nurses about the level of knowledge, the attitudes and practices of the physical restraint.
