State analysis about the attrubite of visual arts education in elemantary hospital schools

Sickness and being a patient in a hospital can cause emotional fear and anxiety on both adults and children. Process of sickness and/or hospital life can affect the patients future life and leave permanent marks. Primary Hospital schools were built to abrogate the side effects and make the process positive and efficient, especially for children.In this research, a study of situtaion was done about the attribute of Visual Arts Education in Elemantary Hospital Schools. I used qualitative research technics. In screening research I used interview, observation and source screening techincs to gather data and information.Public Hospitals and University hospitals that includes elemantary Hospial Schools from Ankara are the examples in the research.Those schools are :- Hacettepe University Children Hospital Elementary School- Ankara Oncology Hospital Elementary School- Ankara Atatürk Sanatorium Hospital Elementary School- Ankara University Medical Faculty Hospital Elementary School- S.S.K.Ankara Children Medical Hospital Elementary School- Gazi University Medical Faculty Hospital Elementary School,- Ankara Hospital Elementary School,- Dr. Sami Ulus Children Hospital Elementary School,- GATA Children Oncology ElementarPsychy School,- Ankara Physcial Threapy and Rehabilitation Edcuation and Research Hospital Elementary School.During the research its learned that Ataturk Sanatorium hospital Elemantary School closed for renovation in 2002 but it hasn?t? have opened since then.According to the verities that we reached out of the research, Elemantary Hospital Schools are usually limited only with 1-2 rooms in hospital children services and also the locations organized as classes are not good. Enough to satisfy handicaped kids needs besides that the teachers are not good enough in terms of both quality and quantity, other than that education programs are not organized in respect of students characteristics.According to survey the teachers we interviewed are participating the view of visual arts education necessity for handicapped kids in order to get away from their psychological expressions and troubles and they pointed out the necessity of providing locations and materials for visual art education as well.As a result suggestions in this research are given regarding to hospital elemantary schools physical conditions, teachers quantity and quality and the qualification of processed programs for handicapped kids necessities and conditions.Key words : Art, Education, Education of Art, visual Arts , Hospital Schools.
