The Evaluation of the stock management effects on working capital with financial aspect in hospital organizations

Stock manegement and procurement system for the hospitalorganizations constitutes approximately 30-40 per cent of the total costs.Especially in public hospitals, due to the increasing financial deficits, theeffects of these costs are felt more intensevly; technology , the desire of usingworking capital effectively , more inspection and control motive creates theneed for stock management and/or the reconstruction in different degrees forthe other hospital sub-systems . The more productive use of working capitalcan only be provided by the integration of a stock management which is right-planned, elastic and open to development with the automation informationsystem.Our thesis study that isprepared in the framework of these ideas,comprise three chapters.In the first part, working capital is defined, the types and thecharacteristics of working capital and the factors that affec it are elaboratedas a result te relation between working capital and productivitiy of thebusiness is handled.In the second part, stocks are defined and the stock types areelaborated, the emphasis and importance of stocks are stressed in theworking capital by handling the stock costs. After having taken intoconsideration the determination of the material requirement, stock control istermed and its benefits are explained and then stock control types are furthertouched on.As for the third part, stock management policy are explained bygathering the project of material management initiated in 2001 by Dokuz EylulUniversity Hospital. In the basis of four warehosues, the last four years? stockmovements have been detected, the growth trend in hospital budget causedby succesful stock control management compared to years and the effectsthe stock management on working capital have been proved.Â
