Determinatining the working standarts of hospital cleaning staff by means working analysis, a case study in Ankara

In order to improve the quality of controlling and treatment in hospitals, clean and hygienic environment is quite important. A well-cleaned hospital is free from infection risk and supplies reliable and regular service. It is very essential not only for patient but also for staff confidence.One of the most significant factor affecting the level of the hospital cleaning is hospital cleaning staffs. A well-trained cleaning staff can be a only factor to change the quality of cleaning. In-service training has a significant role to struggle with the infection and polution in the hospitals. Unfortunately, these kind of trainings are being made without and standardization. In this study, it is seen that in-service training topics are considerably different between the hospitals we visited. Inspections mechanism is also different like those trainings.There are a lot of countires foreseen the problems before and solved them substantially. In these countires, certificated hospital cleaning staffs with standard trainings are well-qualified and do their work correctly.In this research, work description and requirements of hospital cleaning staffs are introduced by using face to face conversation techniques. As cleaning standards are different in the areas having infection risk high or low, we met with the staff responsible from the cleaning of operating room which is in the high risk group. Moreover, the training topics which must be taken by certificated staff are mentioned. Some recommendations are given to increase the infection risk in the hospitals, to supply a clean and confident environment, to improve the patient satisfaction and to supply high quality service. Research results showed that the hospital cleaning staffs should be certified.
