Abstract (EN)

Trigeneration systems can be thought of as a system that basically includes chiller units that have been added to a cogeneration system and operate with waste heat energy. Generated electricity in trigeneration systems are a second energy resources for consumed electricity in hospitals. Hot and cold water production is provided by using the waste heat as a result of generated electricity. Given all these features, the trigeneration systems offer solution for hospital administrations for electricity generation, heating and cooling effects. The trigeneration system discussed in this study is an actual natural gas internal combustion engine powered trigeneration system in a research hospital campus. This system is designed to have 2000 kWh electricity, 3284 kWh heating and 1221 kWh cooling load capacities. First, the process flow diagram of this system will be presented to explain the basic operating principles and then a detailed energy and exergy analysis of all the sub-units of the system will be presented. In thermodynamic analysis, the actual operating data of the system will be used. Thermal efficiency of the system is calculated as %49,3 electrical efficiency of the system is %43,68 and exergetic efficiency is calculated as %47,97. Pay back period of the system is calculated as 1,57 years with investment cost.
