Abstract (EN)
Identifying The Experiences Of The Parents, Whose Children Are Inpatient About The Family-Centered Nursing Care Of Nurses INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE: Family-centered care (FCC) is based on the family involvement in all decisions regarding the care of the patient and on maintaining care in strong cooperation with healthcare professionals. This study is implemented to determine the experiences of the parents whose children are inpatient about the family-centered nursing care of the nurses. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The descriptive and analytical research was carried out with the participation of 350 parents at the Sakarya Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital and Sakarya University Training and Research Hospital. Questionnaire and Family-Centered Care Scale (FCCS) were used as data acquisition tools. The data obtained from the study were transferred to the computer environment and evaluated by the SPSS (Statiscial Package for Social Sciences for Windows) 23. RESULTS: It has been determined that 89,7% of the parents, who participated in the study, were involved in childcare in the hospital and those who do not, do not consider it necessary to do so. The median number for the level of significance and consistency is calculated as four in consequence of descriptive statistics of the scores in FCCS. While the highest matching ratio is 'Nurses help my child to feel well-cared-for' and 'Nurses help me to feel well-cared-for', the lowest matching ratio is 'Nurses explain about changes I could expect in my child's condition'. CONCLUSION: It is observed that nurses make the family and children feel good about the family-centered care practices provided by nurses, yet parents need more information about the possible changes in their child's situation and the childcare. The parents whose children are inpatient from emergency, and who stayed in the hospital for seven days and over, noted that they are pleased concerning the family-centered care practices of nurses.
