Abstract (EN)

The Relationship Between Anxiety and Depression Levels and Level Of Uncertainty In Hospitalized Risky Pregnant Women INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE: The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between hospital anxiety and depression levels and perceived uncertainty levels among pregnant women receiving inpatient treatment due to high-risk pregnancy. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This descriptive study was conducted with 325 women diagnosed with high-risk pregnancy admitted to the perinatology service of a public hospital between February 1 and April 15, 2023. "Personal Information Form," "Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS)," and "Mishel's Uncertainty in Illness Scale - Community Form (MUIS-C)" were used to collect the data. Descriptive statistical methods was used to examine the relationships between parameters. The significance level was considered as p<0.05. RESULTS: It was determined that 72% (n=234) of the participating pregnant women were in the third trimester, and 61.2% (n=202) had planned pregnancies. When the diagnoses of participants with high-risk pregnancies were examined, it was found that 22.2% (n=72) had hypertensive problems, 9.5% (n=31) had GDM, 24% (n=78) had EDT/threatened abortion, 8.9% (n=29) had IUGR, 5.5% (n=18) had amniotic fluid anomalies, 16.6% (n=54) had abnormal NST Findings, 5.5% (n=18) had other health problems, 2.8% (n=9) had infections, and 4.9% (n=16) had placental anomalies. It was determined that the majority of the participating pregnant women, 42.2% (n=137), had been in the hospital for 2 days. The mean MUIS-C score of high-risk pregnant women was 49.36 ± 13.163; the mean HADS score was 14.54 ± 7.269; the mean Anxiety subscale score of HADS was 7.91 ± 4.051, and the mean Depression subscale score of HADS was 6.64 ± 4.077. A significant positive relationship was found between MUIS-C score and HADS score. CONCLUSION: A significant positive relationship was found between MUIS-C score and HADS score. It was also found that there was a significant difference between groups in terms of MUIS-C and HADS scores based on some sociodemographic and obstetric characteristics of high-risk pregnant women.
