Abstract (EN)
Interrelations of spatial organization and units which compose hospitals are important factors that effect hospital design. Daily progressing medical science determines the design of hospital spaces and the spatial relationships. Advance in medical science enable progress especially in diagnostic units. The close relation between polyclinic and diagnostic units, this relation gets stronger from day to day and this, in turn, has increased the user circulation. Spatial needs and functional comfort conditions as a result of increase in user circulation became important for spatial organisations. At four hospital examples which are considered in the context of this thesis, circulation analysis between polyclinic and diagnostic units are examined under the titles of hospital entrances, plan systems, polyclinic and diagnostic unit relations, waiting areas and intensified areas. As for functional comfort analyses, this is investigated under the titles of distance, spatial sizes, natural lighting and wayfinding. In this thesis, analyses of relationship between polyclinic and diagnostic units expected to provide source material for future hospital designs.
