Evaluation of hospitals in terms of disaster preparedness (Gümüşhane State Hospital case)

In almost every stage of human history, disasters have caused great destruction and losses. In every period, people have tried to take measures in order not to be affected by the disasters and they have tried to minimize their vulnerabilities. Even if the level of damage caused by disasters is at a very high level, in the absence of a post-disaster management, these losses have been seen increased in the past. Disaster management; It can be defined as working together with all segments of the society and planning a joint action before and after the disaster. One of the most important building blocks of disaster management is risk analysis and preparedness. Preparedness against disaster every time period plays an important role in reducing the possible losses. Identifying and implementing the measures to be taken as a result of the risk analysis is an essential element for effective disaster management. In this context, the health services sector, which will have the most responsibility and demand in the event of a disaster, and the hospitals that are the most important representatives of this sector, should be particularly vigilant about disaster management. For this reason, the necessity of working in the evaluation of hospital disaster preparedness is seen. This study will be carried out as descriptive to assess the state of disaster preparedness. The survey was conducted with 203 personnel working in Gumushane State Hospital using the Hospital Institutional Preparedness Scale form developed by Dan VİCK in 2017. Data were analyzed using SPSS package program. The questionnaire is expected to reveal the level of hospital disaster preparedness. In addition, it is expected to determine the relationship between organizational disaster preparedness level and gender, educational status and the role in the institution.
