Hastanelerin Verimlilik Analizi: KKTC’deki Devlet Hastaneleri Uygulaması

Health or being healthy is an important issue to maintain their living standards at the highest level so that individuals can be efficient and productive for their own society. For this reason, health sector and state hospitals should be analyzed whether they are efficient or productive. In both developed and developing countries, health sectors are complex structure therefore, the efficient of health services in a country has a significant impact on the progress of the development of the health systems offered. This thesis investigates empirically the efficiency and productivity of state hospitals in North Cyprus. Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu state hospital, Gazimağusa state hospital, Dr. Akçiçek state hospital and Cengiz Topel state hospital were used between the years 2002 and 2013 by conducting Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Malmquist analysis. Based on the empirical results, most effective hospital is Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital and the hospital with the lowest efficiency functions is Cengiz Topel State Hospital. In addition, the findings reveal that hospitals were active in 2005 and 2006, but in 2003, 2007 and 2011, it became clear that hospitals were not able to effectively use both physical and human resources. In the context of productivity, Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital achieved the best score whereas Cengiz Topel State Hospital achieved the lowest score.
