Transition periods in the culture of Hatay Arabian arteries (bi̇rth-marri̇age-death)

Hatay province is in the position of a transition between Asia, Europe and Africa. It host many diverse communities of different etnical origins. It is known as the city of tolerance. There are many communities of Jews, Moslems and Christians from different sects and congregations. As there is a rich cultural exchange atmosphere between these communities, the cultural richness of the region is also very high and diverse. In our study, first information about Hatay Arabian Alevite community as regards the transition period, namely birth, wedding and death rituals is compiled, and then this information is examined comparatively with that about other communities in different regions of the Turkish Republic. The thesis is comprised mainly of the lifestyles, traditions, religious and social rituals and practices of Hatay Arabian Alevite community. This compilation study is divided as three main parts with sub-parts: pre-birth, during-birth, post-birth; pre-marriage, during-marriage, post-marriage, and pre-death, during-death, post-death. In addition, the information compiled from the source persons is presented in terms of the practices, beliefs and rituals conveyed to them from their ancestors throughout different generations.
