Structural analysis of beekeeping in Hatay province

This study was conducted to examine the structural condition of beekeeping enterprises in Hatay province. It was found that the average age of the beekeepers participating in the study was 48,03 years and the average experience was 17,50 years. About half of the beekeepers (49,34%) stated that 59,66% of the producers do beekeeping for the purpose of providing additional income, approximately 70% are mobile beekeepers, 60,81% of the operators follow the developments related to beekeeping from the Provincial and District Directorates of Agriculture. It has been stated that the colonies meet the queen bee by producing them naturally. Almost all of the producers recognize diseases and pests, 41,07% of them apply to the Provincial and District Directorates of Agriculture when a disease or pest is seen in their holdings, almost all of the beekeepers (92,23%) use licensed pesticides for diseases and pests in their holdings, and approximately 70% It was determined that Rulamit-VA was used against Varroa pest. Almost all beekeepers (91,21%) have been reported to face winter losses. As a result, in order to increase productivity, it is necessary to regularly replace the main bee of colonies and direct local beekeepers to Rover beekeeping. In addition, it is important to conduct Bee decontamination in a regular manner.
