Abstract (EN)

Today, the need for energy is increasing day by day. Fossil fuels have a limited lifetime and are very harmful to the environment. Wind energy, which is a renewable energy source, has been discussed. In order to make the wind energy usable, the savanius wind turbine was chosen from among the turbine types. The reason for choosing this turbine; It can be activated at low wind speeds without the need for a first motion engine, it is independent of the wind direction, its maintenance and repair costs are low, and its production cost is low due to its simple geometry. In addition, the fact that vertical axis wind turbines can be used in residential areas due to their aesthetic appearance and quieter operation compared to horizontal axis turbines is an important plus, but their low efficiency is considered to be a limiting factor in their widespread use. In this study; Air ducts are used to increase the efficiency of the s-rotor savanius wind turbine. In order to determine the optimum air duct geometry, the turbine was modeled using Ansys / Fluent software and computational fluid dynamics analysis (HAD) was performed. The numerical model has been verified by experimental studies in the literature. As a result of the optimization study carried out with HAD analysis, it has been determined that the monolithic air duct performs better than circle, rectangular and hexagonal air ducts. The effect of the ratio of the duct opening to the bucket diameter (overlap ratio) on the turbine performance in the monolithic air duct was investigated. It was determined that the maximum power was at the rate of 0.25 overlap.
