Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the design of a new product that can be used in aerial firefighting operations is proposed. This product, called Smart Fire Extinguishing Ammunition (SFEA), is designed in the dimensions of MK-82 type air-to-ground general purpose NATO ammunition. Boron mineral added extinguisher-cooling agent, which is a domestic product, was used in ammunition. SFEA, which is aimed to be brought to the aviation and fire extinguishing industry, is expected to be used effectively in open field fires outside of residential areas. In the design of SFEA Catia V.5 software was used. Structural, flow and explosion analyzes of SFEA were performed with Ansys Fluent 16.0 software. The software required for the autonomous task of ammunition is written in the C programming language. The structure of SFEA consists of fuselage, nose cone, tail-wing set, extinguisher - cooling material, explosive, detonator, electronic hardware and software. Three different nose cone designs were made and the most suitable nose cone type was determined. The drag coefficient that will be generated by the ammunition loaded on an unmanned aerial vehicle at maximum speed conditions of the vehicle was determined by CFD analysis. Ammunition trajectory and strike angle calculations were made and the rate of removal of the extinguishing agent was calculated. The drag coefficient of SFEA was found to be 0.14633. The friction coefficient was determined as 0.136 for the spherically blunted conical nose cone, 0.138 for the spherically blunted tangential pointed nose cone, and 0.154 for the truncated tangential nose cone.
