The liife, works and philosophy of Hikmet Kıvılcımlı

Purpose of this study is to examine the life, the works and the struggle of Mr Hikmet Kivilcimli, and to understand his position in the global and local Turkish socialism. Also, with the help of this extensive research we tried to understand his interpretation of the relationship between socialism and religion. Basing our premises on his life, we tried to explain how difficult it may be, living a life ―as you think is right!‖. Also we tried to clarify that his thesis on religion did not find a match during the time he put them forward, for recent times, these need to be revised and re-discussed, in order to bring a benefit fort he society. It is pointed out and underlined that, Mr Kivilcimli, in the history of socialism, stands out as one of the most productive and influential forerunners of both global and Turkish socialsts. It is stressed that, in order to achieve social progress, a society needs to utilise every person who has got a word to say.
