Abstract (EN)

Turkey and the world public are witnessing the animal rights activism that has been going on for many years in order to achieve various gains in the context of animal rights. Although the channels and references of the mentioned activism differ from time to time, it has media visibility as an actual problematic each time. The differentiation of references is mainly related to the public visibility of animal rights violations. Because legal claims regarding animals are clustered in different dimensions such as the transformation and instrumentalization of animals into food, clothing, performers, racers; The counter-stances displayed against each violation of rights are based on different scientific, philosophical and ethical arguments. Digital platforms are at the forefront of the channels where activism performance is displayed. The digitalization of animal rights activism is based on quite new and unique dynamics compared to classical activism processes and can achieve unique gains in terms of both process management and mass interaction. Laws pertaining to animals stand out in the laws of Hammurabi, who is thought to have experienced the most glorious period of Mesopotamia, and the regulations are mostly classified under "agriculture". The Code of Hammurabi provides important clues regarding the history of animal rights. For this purpose, the Twitter accounts of highly interactive animal rights activists were examined for their social media activities, and in this analysis, the content analysis procedure was applied based on document analysis, and therefore the qualitative research method was used. As a result of the research, it is seen that animal rights activists reflect their sensitivities on issues such as animal rights, abuse, exploitation, animal maltreatment, torture, general condition of animal shelters and sterilization on social media.
