Abstract (EN)
The studied area covers a region of 100 km2 in SW of Hazar village of Maden (Elazığ). The rock units of the studied area (in chronological order) are; Pütürge Metamorphites (Paleozoic - Mesozoic) consisting of metapelytes, calc - schists, phyllite, cholorite-schist, recrystallized limestone and metaquartzite; Guleman Group (Jurassic- Lower Cretaceous) consisting of gabbro, gabbro with clinopyroxene, diabase, pyroxenite, dünite and serpentinite; Simaki Formation (Maestrihtian - Lower Eocene) which consists of alternating sandstone-shale- marl belonging to Hazar Group; Melefan formation (Middle Eocene) consisting of sandstone, clayey limestone, shale and mudstone which is lower part of Maden Complex and Karadere Formation (Middle Eocene) consisting of pyroclastites, diabase, basalt and andesite which is upper level of Maden Group and Plio - Quaternary alluvium.V Main structural elements of the studied area are; strike slip left lateral Hazar Fault; Yıldızhan Thrust Fault formed between Pütürge Metamorphics (Paleeozoic-Mesozoic) and Guleman Group (Jurassic- Lower Cretaceous); Polatköy Thrust Fault formed between Guleman Group and Hazar Group (Maestrihtian-Lower Eocene); Hazar Thrust Fault formed between the same units, normal faults observed in different areas of the study area, and some fractures of which natures are not determined. Rose diagrams which were prepared by tectonic data collected from the units in the studied area, show that the area was affected by approximately a N-S compressional stress and tectonic structures of the region were developed in accordance with this compressional stress. In the region which has been affected by Alpin Orogenic movements the unconformity between Guleman Group (Jurassic- Lower Cretaceous) and Simaki Formation (Maestrihtian-Lower Eocene) was formed by the transgression following to Laramiyen orogenic phase, the unconformity between Pütürge Metamorphics (Palepzoik-Mezozoik) and Melefan Formation (Middle Eocene) and Guleman Group and Melefan Formation were formed by the transgression following to Anadolu orogenic phase. Economic occurences of the studied area are; choromite ore bodies in Guleman Group and water springs developed along the tectonic contact between Guleman and Hazar Groups.Key Words: Eastern Taurus, Strike Slip Hazar Fault, Thrust Fault, Pütürge Metamorphites, Guleman Group, Hazar Group, Maden Complex.
