Abstract (EN)

With the development of the technology, various materials with different specifications are utilized in the construction industry. However, concrete is still the most common used material due its properties such as workability or cost. Therefore, most of the waste in construction industry is generated by concrete during the construction and demolition of the buildings. In this study, in context of a project supported by The Scientific and Technologial Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), it was aimed to determine the sources and amount of fresh concrete waste generated in ready-mix concrete plants by on-site measurements. The results of the study revealed that fresh concrete wastes originates from 4 different sources in the plants and only the amount of wastes caused by over ordered concrete and adhesive concrete in truck mixers' drum can be measured due to the operation mode of the plants. As a result, even the measurable amount of fresh concrete waste is too much and thus, it is crucial to minimize or recycling them.
