Abstract (EN)
Aim: Hepatitis B infection continues to be an important health problem in terms of chronic liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma development. HBsAg (hepatitis B virus surface antigen) shows active infection in hepatitis B infection and can be detected in serum in acute and chronic hepatitis B disease. HBV DNA is currently used for the detection of viral replication and also assists in the follow-up antiviral treatment of HBV infection. In this study; we aimed to compare HBV DNA results retrospectively during HBsAg-positive cases. Material and Method: In this study, HBV DNA values of 2437 patients who were positive for HBsAg in Inonu University Medical Faculty Microbiology Laboratory between 2014-2015 were examined retrospectively. In sera of the patients; HBV DNA were examined by Real Time PCR method and HBsAg were examined by ELISA method. Results: Of the HBsAg positive 2437 samples, 1037 (42.5%) were HBV DNA positive, 1400 (57.5%) were HBV DNA negative. It was observed that 1037 HBV DNA positive patients viral load amount is 435 copies / ml to 9 billion 782 million copies / ml. Conclusion: In conclusion; HBsAg (hepatitis B virus surface antigen) is a serologic indicator in the detection of hepatitis B virus infection and HBV DNA is a molecular test in determining viral replication and following antiviral treatment and these still maintains their importance.
