Abstract (EN)

In this study, increasing the heat transfer by the vertical positioning of the helical inner tube heat exchanger which has different helix number has been discussed experimentally. An experimental set was installed to analyze the amount of heat transfer and pressure drop in the vertically positioned heat exchanger. Heat transfers and pressure drop were analyzed at different capacity rates and different flow rates. The flow rate is turbulent for each tube with different helix number. Calculations were made both for helical inner tube and annular spacing between helical inner tube and outer tube. All experimental results were compared with each other to obtain the best results. According to the results, Nusselt number, pressure drop amount, efficiency value of heat exchanger were found and graphed according to Reynolds number. Experimental formulas were also obtained for each type of pipe. According to results of experiments, in five helical copper pipes, heat transfer increased %80,6 , pressure drop increased 140,38% compared to straight copper pipe. Increased pressure drops occur under the influence of helically. Heat transfer is better in helical pipes compared to straight pipes, but pressure drop also increases with the effects of rotation and helices. The pressure drop is high but the heat transfer provided is high
