Abstract (EN)

In ancient eras, ships were driven on a lot of different archeological objects. In this study, the description of the ships which are on the coins, are taken into consideration. On the coins which are in the scope of this study, only prows and sterns of the ships are seen. All the ships described, are rammed battleships. Throughout the eras, there have been intensely commercial activities under consideration to Eastern Mediterranean. But it is seen that commercial ships have not been reflected on the coins. In this respect, the details about the battleships are more than that of commercial ships in this study. In the thesis, ships are expressed firstly and later on, the history and the historical geography of the city by which ships represented coins have been imprinted, are expressed generally, and finally, the evaluation of material for which catalogue is given is performed. Throughout the Hellenistic Period, seven cities in Anatolia have produced ship represented coins. In the coin catalogue, there are 108 coins related to the subject. All of the coins are given in real dimensions as published in the catalogue.
