Abstract (EN)

Within the scope of this study, firstly, information about the Eastern Mediterranean History and Geography of the Hellenistic Period was given. The most influential dynasty in the region is undoubtedly the Ptolemies. The dominance of the Ptolemies, especially in Egypt, Rhodes, and the Southern coasts of Anatolia, was very effective on trade. Among the important trade centers in the region in the Eastern Mediterranean geography, Crete, Cos, Rhodes, Rhodes Peraia, Patara in the Lycia Region, Pamphylia Region, Nagidos in the Cilicia Region, Cyprus Island, Berytus in the Levante Region, Egypt in the North Africa, Cyrenaica Region played an active role. Especially Cyprus and the island of Rhodes served as a crossroads in the trade between east and west. When we look at the products carried in the amphoras, we see that olive oil and wine are intense. In addition, it is known that the products that have become the symbols of the city and have the potential to make commercial gains come to the fore in the market. The distribution of amphorae in the Eastern Mediterranean ports was determined by shipwrecks, excavations and surveys within the Eastern Mediterranean centers. It has been observed that the shipwrecks of the period are mostly concentrated around Marmaris peninsula, Kos and Rhodos.
