Evaluation of quality of life in patients withhematopoetic stem cell transplant: Ankara City Hospitalexample

This study was conducted to determine the quality of life of patients with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. This cross-sectional and descriptive study was conducted in Ankara City Hospital Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit. The data of the study were collected from 18 patients aged 18 years and older who had hematopoietic stem cell transplantation between 26.08.2021 and 15.11.2021. A questionnaire prepared in line with the literature was used to collect the data. The analysis of the obtained data was carried out using the SPSS 24.0 package program. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics, dependent samples t test, Mann Whitney-U test and Kruskall-Wallis analysis of variance were used. P<0.05 was considered statistically significant in all analyzes. The mean age of the participants was 39.66±11.33, 66.7% male, 83.3% married, 33.3% primary school-high school-university graduate, 77.8% SGK, 55.6% income equal to expenditure, % It was determined that 77.8 of them had a nuclear family, 50% of them lived in the province for the longest time and 55.6% of them were in the normal weight range. In addition, 66.7% of the patients were diagnosed with the disease in 1 year or less, 50% of them came from the city and 50% of them went to the hospital for treatment from outside of the city, 61.1% thought that the hematopoietic stem cell therapy applied to them was effective, 55.6% It was determined that 2 of them had stem cell transplantation from their own cells. When the individual characteristics of the patients and the total score averages of the Quality of Life Assessment Scale were examined; It was determined that there was no significant difference between the patients' age, gender, marital status, educational status, social security, income and expenditure status, family type and body mass index (p>0.05). In addition, it was determined that there was a statistically significant difference between the mean score of the Quality of Life Assessment Scale of patients who received hematopoietic stem cell transplantation from their own cells (p<0.05). It can be said that the quality of life of the patients who received hematopoietic stem cell transplantation participating in the study is at a good level.
