Abstract (EN)
In Turkey %4.4 of every 1000 living born has cerebral palsy and %38 of these kids has hemiparesis as a subgroup. The aim of this study was to compare upper extremity functions with PEDI-CAT and Abilhand-Kids tests in hemiparetic children and to determine whether there is correlation between these tests and can they be used interchangeably. Thirty hemiparetic children aged between 6-12 years (mean age of 8.4 years) who were admitted to the Istanbul Faculty of Medicine Departmen of Pediatrics, Pediatric Neurology outpatient clinic between 01.01.2019 – 30.06.2019 were included in the study. Twenty-one (70%) of the patients were male and 9 (30%) were female. All children underwent PEDI-CAT and Abilhand-Kids tests. As a result PEDI-CAT and Abilhand-Kids tests are correleated in terms of overall socres but they can't be used interchangeably. It was concluded that PEDI-CAT can be used for detailed upper extremity evaluation and therapy planning and the free Abilhand-Kids test can be used for rapid evaluation of upper extremities of hemiparetic children.
