The effect of nurses' perception of mushroom management on organizational cynicism, job performance, and intention to leave

The study employed descriptive, cross-sectional, and correlational research methods to determine nurses' perceptions of the mushroom management approach and to determine its effects on organizational cynicism, job performance, and intention to leave. This study, which received ethical and institutional approval, was conducted with 681 volunteer nurses working in two public hospitals, one university hospital, and four private hospitals providing general health services in Bursa province. A questionnaire form including a "Participant Information Form," "Mushroom Management Approach Scale," "Organizational Cynicism Scale," "Job Performance Scale," and "Intention to Leave Scale" was used to collect data. SPSS 23 was used in data analysis. Skewness and Kurtosis analyses were used to determine normal distribution properties, Cronbach's Alpha internal consistency analysis was used to assess the reliability of the measurement tools, percentage and frequency distributions were used to determine the descriptive characteristics of the participants, and descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, min-max values) were used to evaluate the measurement tools. Additionally, Pearson Correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were conducted to determine the relationships between variables. Analyses were conducted with a 95% confidence interval and a 5% margin of error. The study found that perceptions of the Mushroom management approach, particularly perceptions of inadequate information sharing and lack of participatory management, were above average, while concerns about loss of power were below average. Levels of organizational cynicism were generally above average. Job performance levels were generally high. Intention to leave was below average In addition, it was found that the perception of mushroom management approach increased nurses' organizational cynicism behaviors and their intention to leave the job, and as the perception of mushroom management approach increased, nurses' job performance decreased.
