The validity and reliability study of the self-efficacy scale reporting child abuse and neglect of nurses

The research was planned methodologically with the aim of testing the validity and reliability of the Self-Efficacy Scale for Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect of Nurses. This methodological study was conducted on nurses working at Dicle University Medical Faculty Hospitals between 01 February and 01 April 2019. The population is consisted of nurses working in the hospital; the whole population was studied without selecting a sample group (N=308). Developed in 2008 by Lee-Pei,Yu et al, the scale consists of 44 attitude questions. Validity and reliability analysis; language, coverage, structure validity, in reliability analysis; the internal consistency coefficient and the method of dividing the test in two halves were used. Analysis of the data was done in the Windows version of SPSS 11.5 and in the Amos 24 version of SPSS. The language validation of the Nursing Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Self-Efficacy Scale was analyzed by the translation-back-translation method and the validity of the scope has been made by expert opinions. The scope validity was calculated scope validity ratio by using Davis method. Explanatory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were performed for construct validity. As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis, it was determined that the scale had a single factor structure and the factor loads were in the appropriate range. The compliance assessment criteria were RMSEA 0.074, CFI 0.908, NFI 0.927, GFI 0.906, AGFI 0.889, X2 3864.26 and X2/SD 4.771, and the model's compliance was determined. As a result of internal consistency analyses of the scale, the substance total score correlations were sufficient and the cronbach α coefficient was found to be 0.98, 0.98 and 0.94 respectively for all three scales. The Spearman-Brown coat count of the 9 sub-dimensions of the scale was found to be between 0.881 and 0.992 in the method of dividing the test in two halves. Guttman Split-Half was found to be between 0.723-0.980. As a result, it was found that the Self-Efficacy Scale for Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect of Nurses is similar to the original scale, has a high validity and reliability and is an adequate measurement tool for reporting child abuse and neglect of nurses.
