Hemşirelerin Hizmet Sunduğu Bireyler ya da Yakınlarından Yönelen şiddete Maruz Kalma Durumları

The research is made in compliance with descriptive research design to identify violence used against nurses by clients their relatives. Study population is composed of 180 nurses who study health institutions at Famagusta and İskele. The research is conducted based on the research population, no sampling has been made and 140 nurses have participated. The data is collected through the survey form under the name of “Workplace Violence in Nursing”. Descriptive statistics and chi square significance test have been used for the statistical analysis of the data. The statistical significance level is accepted as p<0.05. The ratio of nurses exposed to any kind of violence or harassment is identified as 67.1%. While the ratio of physical violence used against nurses by clients or their relatives is 15.0%, 63.6% of nurses is exposed to verbal harassment and 6.4% to sexual harassment. It is stated nurses are exposed to physical violence at the ratio of 57.1%, verbal harassment at the ratio of 40.4% and sexual harassment at the ratio of 40.2% by the clients‟ relatives. It is stated that there is a statistical significance between the concern on being exposed to violence in the unit being worked and working in the night shift and number of men and women working in the unit (p<0.05). In accordance with the results obtained in the research, it is proposed to raise awareness of nurses on measures to be taken on anger management and violent behaviours.
