The effect of the nurses' professional attitudes on colleague solidarity

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of nurses' professional attitudes on colleague solidarity. This descriptive and relationship-seeking study was conducted in a state hospital, where 376 nurses work, with 254 nurses who worked at this hospital for at least six months and volunteered to participate in the study. Data were collected with an online questionnaire consisting of three parts. The data collection form consisted of the "Information Form", which included the individual and professional characteristics of nurses, the "Professional Attitude Inventory in Occupation" and the "Nurses Colleague Solidarity Scale". Descriptive statistics, Mann Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis-H tests were used in data analysis. Spearman Correlation Analysis and Multiple Regression analysis were performed to determine the relationship between the scales. It was determined that nurses got 67.53±27.76 points from the Professional Attitude Inventory at Occupation and 98.78±13.31 points from the Nursing Colleague Solidarity Scale. As a result of the correlation and regression analyzes, it was concluded that the professional attitudes of nurses have a statistically significant effect on colleague solidarity. A moderate and negative significant relationship was found between the measurements (rs=-0.424; p<0.01). In line with these results, it was determined that there was a statistically significant moderate negative relationship between the professional attitudes of nurses and colleague solidarity. According to this result, it was determined that as the level of professional attitude of nurses decreased, the level of colleague solidarity increased.
