Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is investigating the perceptions and attitudes of the 4th grade nursing department students on preventing medical devices related pressure injuries (TCİBYÖY). The population of the study consists of 221 4th grade nursing students and its sample consists of 147 students. The study was conducted between the dates of April 1-December 31, 2021. In the research, survey form was used as the data collection tool. The survey form includes the student introduction form and the attitude form for preventing medical devices related pressure injuries (TCİBYÖY). SPSS 22.0 package program was used in the data analysis of the study. In the analyzes, frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean and standard deviation, t-test and variance analysis, cluster analysis and correlation analysis were used. It was determined that all TCİBYÖY expressions have a mean score of (x̄=3,98±0,45) and has a satisfactory attitude value. Cognitive sub-dimension 1-5 participation score was found to be above the maximum ≥3.75 (x̄=3.88±0.57), but slightly lower than affective and behavioral sub-dimension scores. In the results of the correlation analysis, a moderately significant positive correlation was found between cognitive, affective and behavioral dimensions. In the cluster analysis results, on the other hand, TCİBYÖY attitude scores were gathered under two clusters. While Cluster-1 was composed of 51,02% of the participants, Cluster-2 was composed of 48,98% of the participants. It has been observed that responses of the participants in Cluster-2 were statistically higher in terms of all sub-dimensions and general attitude (p<0,01). As a result of the study conducted, it was determined that students' attitudes towards medical device-related pressure injuries were positive, but the mean of the cognitive dimension was relatively low compared to the other dimensions. It was determined that the TCİBYÖY attitude scores of female students were higher, that there was a relationship between the TCİBYÖY attitude sub-dimensions, and two basic clusters were formed in the cluster analysis. It is recommended that nursing students' knowledge about pressure injuries associated with medical devices is improved, the curriculum is improved, and the students' knowledge and attitudes are measured at certain intervals.
