Evaluation Of Constipation Risk Status And Quality Of Life In Patients With Hernia Surgery INTRODUCTION and OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the constipation risk status and quality of life of patients undergoing hernia surgery. MATERIALS and METHOD: The study was conducted with 105 patients who had undergone hernia surgery between October 2017 and May 2018 after the approval of the ethics committee. The patient information form was applied "Constipation Risk Assessment Scale" within 3 days after the operation and "Constipation Quality of Life Scale" 2 weeks after the operation. Data were evaluated by average, standard deviation, frequency distribution, levene, bonferroni, tamhane's T2, independent sample t and chi-square tests. FINDINGS: Of the participants, 47.6% were between 41-60 years old, 77.1% were male, 73.3% were primary school graduates, 41.9% was be overweight. Most of the patients 81% who were evaluated before surgery were scheduled for surgery with the diagnosis of inguinal hernia; 53.3% of the patients had chronic disease before surgery and the most common chronic diseases were hypertension 31.4% and diabetes 13.3%. According to the averages of scales; The mean constipation risk assessment scale (CRAS) was 10,13 ± 3,937 and it was found to have "a slight risk of constipation". Constipation Quality of Life Scale (CQLS) avarage of score was 61.81 ± 18.213 and it was determined depented on the constipation quality of life was negatively affected. Women according to men, between the ages of 41-60 according to between the ages of 20-40, those with chronic diseases according to those without chronic diseases, primary school graduates according to high school\ associate degree \undergraduate and fat according to normal and overwight, the median scores of the CRAS and CQLS were significantly higher (p <0.05). CONCLUSION: According to the results of the study; It was determined that hernia surgery was a risk factor for constipation and negatively affected the quality of life after constipation.
